5 Things I Want To Help My Audience With

Feel free to share with your friends!

My blog exists to help new moms who want to take a natural approach to motherhood. I want to share what I’ve learned through my own experience and research to help other moms support the health of their babies from pregnancy and beyond.

Barefoot Munchkins is about closing the gap between our children and the natural world by making conscientious choices in what they eat, how they play, and how they connect with nature. It’s about letting our munchkins embrace the innocence of childhood by keeping their life simple and nurturing their connection with nature in order to grow into healthy, confident, and balanced children.

Below are five ways I want to help my readers to accomplish this.

  1. Tips for a healthy mom and baby

A natural baby starts with a natural mama. From pregnancy to starting solids with your baby, it is vital they receive the nutrients they need to support their development.

I want to share what I’ve learned through my own research and experience about prenatal nutrition and help debunk some of the myths being propagated in our current guidelines for a “healthy” pregnancy. I also want to encourage nutrient dense foods when starting solids and give tips on how to help their babies develop a sophisticated palate right from the start to help them avoid becoming a picky eater.

  1. Help parents create an enriching environment for playtime

This involves choosing toys that are purposeful, not just entertaining. When we follow the interest of our child, choose quality over quantity, and choose activities that help them master a skill, we will find playtime is not only more productive but a lot more rewarding.

When we approach playtime in this way, the result is less clutter, freedom for imagination, and a more focused child. Yes our babies need stimulation, but they need the RIGHT stimulation.

I want to help parents sift through the crap and help them decide what they really need (and what they don’t need) to keep their baby entertained and happy.

  1. Help parents prioritize nature as a need in their child’s life for health and well-being

Being connected to nature is not just a need for “crunchy” kids. It’s a need for ALL kids.

Our modern society has unfortunately wedged a pretty wide gap between us and the natural world; and it keeps getting wider. This is no ground-breaking epiphany. The dangers of technology addiction and children is no secret and has more recently become a common topic of parental concerns– and for good reason.

While technology has it’s benefits (I’m blogging on technology right now, hello) it is vital for the health and well-being of our children that we encourage more outdoor “green” play vs indoor “screen” play.

I want to help parents to reignite the love affair children used to have with nature by giving tips on daily habits and activities for outdoor play and help them understand the benefits this has on our children both physically and emotionally. I want to help them remove this unseen barrier between our children and the natural world, to take off their shoes so to speak, and let them be barefoot.

  1. Recommend the best books and products to support a natural lifestyle

Along with a nutrient dense diet and outdoor time, choosing natural products from toys to clothing is very important to lessen the toxic load on our children and help them live a more natural lifestyle.

I want to recommend my tried and true favorite products for both mom and baby to help them make informed decisions with every purchase. It can take hours of searching to decide what product is best for you and your baby. If I can help shorten that search for new moms, then I am excited to share what has and has not worked for me and my family and recommend the natural products I absolutely love.

  1. Write a bi-weekly blog post to help parents on their journey

I can’t commit to a weekly post just yet. But I’m here for you! Whoever you are! I will start by doing bi-weekly posts that are well researched and based on scientific evidence to help support moms who are trying to adopt a more natural lifestyle with their little ones.

Conclusion

Being a new mom is an exciting time, but it also comes with a lot of conflicting advice. I think no matter where we are on our journey the one thing we have in common is we want what is best for our babies.

I am by no means an expert. But I do have a passion for learning, and I am excited to share what I learn if it can help someone else who is just a few steps behind me. I want to help inspire moms on their journey of motherhood by sharing what I am learning on my own journey of growing a healthy, balanced, barefoot munchkin. =)
