Barefoot Munchkins Was Specifically Designed for YOU (and here’s why)

As I entered the world of motherhood, my main goal was to give my baby the healthiest start possible and create an environment that nurtured her curiosity and sense of wonder.

I wanted her to grow to love nature.

I wanted to enable her to hold onto her childhood innocence as long as possible by creating an environment that moves slower, embraces simplicity, and let’s her get dirty.

This blog is for all the mamas out there wanting to do the same.

Barefoot Munchkins Was Designed for New Moms Wanting to Take a Natural Approach to Growing a Healthy, Balanced, Munchkin

Sadly, our world does not naturally steer our children in this direction. Our modern society is mostly based around what’s easy and convenient, not what’s best for your health; and when it comes to entertainment, children have become accustomed to instant gratification and stimulating visuals. The days of watching a worm cross the sidewalk are long gone.

But does it really matter? Isn’t all this advancement a good thing?

Not necessarily.

We have been pushed so far away from a natural lifestyle that our health and the health of our children are suffering the consequences. Technology is no longer a tool, but an addiction, and the result is kids are spending way less time outside and more time staring at a screen. And sadly, much of their time outside is still spent staring at their phones or texting the kid sitting next to them.

This new culture of technology and social media among young people terrified me and my husband when we decided we wanted to have a baby. In fact, it almost stopped us from having one. How could we successfully raise a child with a love of nature and simple things in a world of memes, selfies, widgets, and tik-toks? It just seemed like trying to parent in this new era with our valuing system would just be a constant uphill battle. And you know what? We were right. But we are determined to give it our best shot.

Here’s a sketch of our plan

  • making nature a priority in our lives
  • choosing natural alternatives to help reduce the toxic load on our little one
  • keeping life simple to make more room for outdoor adventures and quality time as a family

My parenting values are not uncommon; but in a fast-paced society that puts a high value on instant gratification and convenience, trying to maintain a simple, natural life can, at times, feel like you’re swimming upstream.

But I know I’m not alone. This blog is for all the new moms out there who share my values and are willing to go against the grain to stay true to them.
